The Patadyong is a pre-colonial woven rectangular or tube-like wraparound skirt worn traditionally by Visayans. The function is similar to the "malong" from Mindanao and the "sarong" from the Philippines and other parts of Southeast Asian. However, the patterns of the Patadyong are typically checkered, striped or plaid. Today, this skirt is often seen in folk dance performances.
In creating our design, we were really drawn to the checkered patterned but wanted to add a spin to it. Since we are so inspired by the natural world and Kawayan (bamboo) is such a big part of our lives, and the lives of so many Filipinos, we thought it would be cool to create a checked print using images of bamboo.
Length of Skirt Options:
1) Regular Length (approx. midway of calf)
2) Long (approx. ankle length)
